The Golden Gate Chapter of ASHRAE annually provides two awards and scholarships to organizations and individuals.

The Organizational Awards are an annual check to the Bay Area Science Fair Committee and ASHRAE Research. The Chapter has also provided some non-annual presented awards for Student Chapters for Projects or Startup expenses and other Local area research groups.

The Chapter also provides money awards for Travel Grants to Students wanting to attend an Annual ASHRAE meeting that they may have a published research paper to be presented or project demonstration to be shown.

The Chapter gives a minimum of two annual scholarships for the Eric Thor Andresen and Golden Gate Chapter Scholarships, from the interest earned on the Principal balance of these two investment accounts. These scholarships are authorized through the Student Activities Committee and approved by the Chapter Board.

The Chapter may also provide additional scholarships if there are more applicants for scholarships that are deemed as deserving some recognition for their efforts.

The Chapter Board and the Student Activities Committee also provides a team of member judges that attend the regional final of the Bay Area Science Fair held annually in San Francisco at one of the Golden Gate Park’s Museums. The judges review all the student’s project and presentation and then usually chose one for each of the six grades participating that they are in agreement on. These student winners and their parents are invited by the Board to the April meeting of the Chapter where they are presented with a savings bond and certificate of award and given the option of talking about their project and why they chose the topic.

The GGASHRAE Chapter takes pride in recognizing budding members of the academic and engineering community.  For more information about each award, please use the links at the top of this page or contact the Student Activities Chairperson.
